It was lndeed a tiring day for myself....however,a sudden urge came on to attempt to take the mrt from singapore changi airport to my home in bukit panjang....for the last two and a halfyears,l had always wanted to rush home after work..l thought that by seeing the rest of the world,there is nothing worth observing in singapore ..

How wrong can l be...
Taking the mrt is lilke going back to time...
1-l saw some junior college students taking the mrt from bedok to bukit batok...it reminds mi of my past as a JC student who is always late for school. Not because l want to but because there is neverending traffic obstructing mi to school

2-there is a boy sitting on my left right now drying up all his resources to finish up his homework at the v last min. It is not because he don't want to but because he really don't understand what is the obj of doing that assignment.

3-there are so many people during peak hr! this is way too contrasting when i drive...(analogous to there are so many cars during peak hour)

The start and end of a chapter

As l think through my marriage,with my usual cup of coffee, I am glad that Huimin and myself had made it..so far so good.

The closure of a chapter makes the beginning of new chapter. For the last 2 mths, I had seen the string of arrivals of baby ethan,claudia and gwen. Soon it will be my turn to become a father.

Lots of question surrounds mi.
Will I have jelly fingers?
Will I have the patience and passion to teach?
Will I perform to my own personal expectations?
Can I cope with fatigue,uncertainty,change of plans,etc?
Can I talk baby language to my kid?
Can I play my support role towards my wife well?

I had taken care by someone or another for the last 30yrs. Now it is my turn to step up and take the lead.

Like a baby,break up the problem into small little parts.stay cool and composed. Everything will be just fine.

Excerpts when I was in Zurich,

Half an hour's time to zurich dinner time....as the sun is abt to set,it is time for mi to use my underutilised smartphone to write something 4 my blog...

Chinese new year is abt to end. However,it marks the start of my next project-project marathon round2(mi really asking 4 it cos it was really painful and torturing 4 my first marathon last dec)

I thought l had trained quite well previously,but reality sunk when my knee started to hurt @ the 28km mark..

Lesson learnt
1 l am clocking insufficient milege
2 l am running too fast for the first half by my own standard
3 lf l think l tried my best,but this is not my best!

Yesterday...

It was nice to meet up with Jeff, Uncle Chua, Shan and Jas. Some of us are away..I just came back from Denmark and Uncle Chua just came back from Consumer Electronic Show(ie the biggest ever computer show in the whole world..remember HD DVD vs Blu ray) held in Las Vegas..

It was even nicer for the fact that I can be around during a weekend. To most of the people, 5 days of hardworking weekdays come 2 days of enjoying weekend. Not so for mi in the Heavy Transport Operator service industry. I value my weekends alot, alot and alot.

Lots of catching up...which strongly deviate from the initial plan to play mahjong. I am still learning how to listen, though the habit of interrupting a person's speech is reducing on my part...

Listening pointers...recalls a motivational book that i read recently

1. Undivided attention to the speaker
2. People r not interested in mi-they r only interested in themselves
3. Open arms & wrist - welcome!
4. Listen then speak!!

Class outing@St James Power Station

The time had finally come....revisit St James Power Station, with an impossible objective - get the 3litre Henessy out of my way....It was Thomas's bachelor nite cum class outing and we gathered at 8pm at St james power station....Yes, the rest of the people are usually late, so only Elsen and myself are standing there from 8-845pm, waiting for them to come. I knew that they will be late, that is why I put the time@8pm, so that they can reach from 9-1030pm onwards....

Got it b4 9pm and most of the tables are filled up at Dragonfly...I grabbed a manager and asked:

Aliying :"Eer, if I order a 3 litre hennessy now, are you able to get mi a table?"

Surprisedly, he blinked blinked, thinking:"hey, you do not look like a guy who can drink a lot...you sure or not"

Aliying said :"affirm, I need that to run a bachelor nite..lol"

The 3litre hennessy had arrived!

Although William Scorpion wasn't there(which gave mi a very good reason I will be back to Dragonfly), it was still a very good nite of good music, good drink and good catching up, chatting away. At the end, all of us finished up the whole bottle....alcohol really kicked into us much later and the rest of the details after that, you do not want to know...hahahahah(from mysterious red bucket to self make your way back home to stop the taxi halfway and etc)...hahhaahah!

What a nite! All in the name of good fun and laughter...

Cape Town...the living paradise on earth

I must say that I am very impressed with Cape Town...not a place for retire cos I still prefer Singapore with my loved ones and friends. Cape Town came across to mi as a place that is hardly imaginable....is there really such a place on earth? Can I stay on the Table mountains(1086m) if global warming continues and melt down the ice caps?

I am still tryin to get used to my Canon EOS400D. And most of the better taken pic are snapped at the Table Mountains.

Actually , I had been feeling very tired recently..However, i am very happy recently as i felt useful to be of help to "others"...It is all so worth it...

No doubt i was absolutely stoned when i woke up(you can check with Alimin and Ah Frey how extremely difficult it is to wake mi up...I can really sleep at times), but my (tangible) daily dosage of straits time and kopi satu susu sekit kept mi going...my (intangible) goal is to work hard for what I was given to me.. I am so happy abt it...

Project "finish my first marathon"

Yes, I had signed up for the standard chartered marathon this year...This is an unfinished project that had spanned more than 3 years alreadi..Yes, i know that i am damn slow in achieving my target, but it is really due to unforeseen circumstances that i could not make it

2005 : working on that day
2006 : Total drunk and heavy hangover the night b4 due to my wedding
2007 : I took leave and afterwhich to attend my friend s' (April and Hanrong) wedding dinner

No more excuse,2007 will be the year that I will finish my first marathon. At the sametime, I know that i must listen to my body cues. Got to take care, still got many many years to come as the govt forecast that I have approx 50% chance that I will live beyond 85.

My formula for the marathon is simple
Oct : hit 15km/run
Nov : hit 20km/run
Dec : marathon!
routing : NUS roller coaster(for strengthening), east coast(for distance coverage) IPPT(for huffing and puffing),
May explore : bedok reservoir, pandan reservoir, gym (don't like to run on the trackmill, really saving it for rainy days)

gtg now...need to run the NUS roller coaster now..

Perth - back to basic

Revisiting Perth is like revisiting basic...This is the place where I learnt how to fly...This is the place where I got the nasty chicken pox, alone in the isolation box...This is the place where Huimin spent a total of 25days for her holidays.. So much feelings for Perth, and it is all coming back to mi like to "Tidal wave"...

Armed with EOS400D that i recently purchased, took a train to Fremantle and had my dosage of Kaili's fish and chip.. not too bad, still tasted good....supposedly plan to catch a dosage to Littel creature pale ale, but looking at it....Nah, i will not die if I do not drink beer for a day....

Additional info - Perth is known to be the most remote and isolated city in the world. Slow pace of life and everything shuts down by 5pm....

As I am waiting for huimin, I had time to reflect upon myself.

Recently, I am learning to become more "cool" - not cool in the sense like elvin ng, that kind of handsome cool, or aliying doing hiphop dancing or beatboxing.
Not cool that I am the "tia" IC and always kanna challenge by others to drink

I am learning to be "situation cool" - for eg, when somebody overtake mi, I am cool abt it(maybe that guy is in a rush)

when somebody talks, I am cool abt it...(I ensure, be sure and very sure that I bit my lips so that the other people can finish his or her sentence wihout mi interrupting)

I am learning to be cool, whatever the plan changes, it is not a big deal, it shall be a small deal....

I am learning to be cool(that I may not agree with his or her idea, but it is not going to kill mi if I follow or agree to it)

I am learning to be cool, that I think b4 I act, speak, continue the flow of conversation, stay relevent...

Still find it v difficult to achieve, but I can see progress.. slowly but surely...

On the sidenote, tink I am thinking too much.. There are a lot of little things in life that we can enjoy - walk along east coast park, talk to each other, having a short dinner with my families and how can I ever forget my usual dosage of kopitiam beer with ah frey!

National Day - I went to watch 不能说的秘密 / secret with Min, Ah Frey and Peanututu. Maybe I had been listening to Jay Chou's song since 1996. (I am not really his super hard core fan, but found most of his music smoothing to my ears and enhance my listening pleasure...more importantly, his songs keep mi thinking and self reflect) Maybe I had most of his CD and countless mp3 inside my Ipod. Maybe he was human after all....Maybe we had something in common....hey hey!!!

This review is therefore ...bias....but it is indeed a better movie that I had watched till now....

Simple, sincere piece of work, doing what he do best by playing the piano instead of drifting (Initial D) or chopping people up(菊花台), being himself and very humane, nice twist at the end of the story (108steps from the piano room to the classroom, a simple yet genuine secret, do find out yourself), reaching to the very soul of people...

Are u easily contented? I was looking at the sundaytimes and I came across an article abt a man who is easily contented. He is not urgent to find a new job n he can continue to live a simple life without spending too much.

Now looking at myself, I start to wonder if I am contented with my life. Enough money? Enough credit car, change a new notebook, upgrade to a dslr?climb big mountains? The possibilities are endless. I come across as a person who wants to seek new challenges, but it may seem that on the other extreme, i am a person who will never be contented with the achievements and keeps wanting more
.
Min is a v impt person in my life as she is a very easily contented person. She is able to keep mi down to earth and prevents mi from "falling over to the dark side"....

Going to catch the sneak of harry potter tonite! Need to find out who is luna lovegood cos i kind of forget who she is after reading the book in 2003

got myself a pda phone and was really happy abt it. However, the nightmare began as it was not as idiot proof to use as it meant to be.. Missing out the original cable,trying to get the wireless sdio card working..damn shacked out.. I realised that when I am stuck with a prob, it tends to bother mi and I am pushed further and further in to solve the prob. Not too good not too good.. The solution(which is not easy)is to pull the plug and set the correct mindset - don't think abt it anymore! Put it aside and get a life! This is definitely the better aliying.

Now on the mrt train, it feels quite good to be able to look around, observe what other people are doing, reflect abt myself and need not worry abt the traffic ahead..somebody is drving the train, not mi driving the car... But the warm and outdated tibs bus ride is not fantastic,not fantastic.

Not sure why, but i am really feeling tired...yet another sign of getting old..sleep so much yet still feel tired... Buck on.aliying!

I am typing this using my trusty notebook and hooking up in the Efung's apartment's wifi.

The last few days in NY had been a great experience for min and myself. I had been to some cities, but nothing beats the New Yorker experience - passionate, fair and exciting...

Was at Ground Zero, which is just at the door step from Efung's apartment. Minds start to recollect what happened during Sept 11. Tragedy or conspiracy - you decide

Efung is a living example of a modern new yorker, as well as newly found friends of Min, Sailing and Aloyious in Cafe Wha. (Yes, I am out there drinking in moderation again). Listening to a six piece band, singing "I will survive" and a bride-to-be having a hen's nite doing the butt shake. I had been to St James live performance, but that cames hardly close to what I experienced in cafe Wha! www.cafewha.com

NY is so full of "life"...so full of "passion". Everyone is proud to be a piece of NY and the city never sleeps. Subway wriggle through the underground 24/7, hip hop dancer doing extraordinary street dancing, a saw violinist who uses a saw to play music, visit the Museum of Modern Art and listening to a 3 piece band playing bossa nova music while relaxing with my coffee and New York Cheesecake,

Had such a great time catching up with Efung. I obesrved that although NY is a fast paced society, it had several "slow yourelf down" installations. An example is the cheesecake cafe that we had been to earlier. Sitting there makes mi start to think - about the family who are based in Singapore. I also ponder about the major decisions that I made till now.

I also reflect on my character. Fair vs Nice. Which one do I want to be? Everbody wants to be the Mr Nice guy, but do such a person ever exist in the first place? Do nice guy always finish last? Sometimes, it is nice of you to be tactful, but does it provide you with additional problems? How abt the Fair guy? He is assertive, dare to speak up, able to communicate effectively and provides a win win situation for both parties? This is what I learn today and I am going to experiment with this for a while - be a FAIR guy.

life in NY...great so far!

Dear all,

life in NY had been great to mi so far....here are some of the things that had happened till now...

5 jUN 07
Did my personal best of a continuous flight to NY direct... a total of 18.5hours of flight time. Min and I were very lucky to be able to get on board the flight as the flight was really full. The airbus 340-500 ULR flight was really impressive, in terms of the aircraft type and the service rendered to us... So many people are snacking away with bread, tibits and eating instant noodles...tough job tough job for the cabin crew.

Finally arrived at Newark, then took a while to figure out the way to Penn station and took a cab to Stefen's place. My first impression of NY are - fast pace, modern, artistic...
fast pace because all the New Yorkers seems to be rushing around all the time...I hardly see anyone standing around or chatting with people...they just move!

Modern because there are so so many high rise buildings - gothic yet modern

Artistic - hip hop dancing in the subway, yang qin + trumpet + guiter performance, rapper, art pieces, library(the NY central library ie NYCL is such a cool place to be in to create a fashion statement)

Efung just came back from his photography lessons and it was such a great feeling to be able to meet up with a good friend overseas...Hugs and kisses

We made our way to the statue of liberty. I am actually expecting it to be bigger...but nevertheless, "been there done that" is our mission for that.. The statue was a gift from the people of France to the people of America. Temperature wise, although it is summer, it is still rather cold with the wind chill factor, say 14-22 deg. we walked to Times square and had a coffee at Bryant park. It FEELS so good to be able to relax our legs in the middle to the city, have a coffee and spend quality time catching up. Had yakitori near NY University to round up the nite.

Factory outlet shopping the whole day - Man, 220 shops to choose from - the list of boutiques, you do not want to know...shop shop shop...never shop the whole day in my life b4. Start at 10am, end at 830pm.

08 Jun 07
Fri is "visit the museum free"day. Will be making our way to Museum of Modern Art, Gul museum, check out the music scene at Cafe Wha tonite, with finger food, good live music and beer. Supper may come at the Corner Bistro - serve cheap burgers, fries and drinks at approx 10USD.

01 -04 Jun : Project Hong Kong 2007 with my parents and ys
Will be visiting the peak and lantau island' catch some dim sum and some shopping

05 - 14 Jun : Project NY with Min
Will get a chance to take the SQ airbus 345 direct to New York with Min. will Visit Efung who is based in New York as a photographer. Statue of liberty, shopping, fifth ave, Times Square, Manhattan, drinking bud, etc

15-17 Jun : Project KL with Ah Frey, my, Min and myself
Had not been there for a while. Will be catching up on some food, and I hope to establish contact with my sec school friend, Big Bear Xionglim over there.

19 Jun : Back on flight to Zurich

There is really such shop in AUS and US, called BWS- beer, wine and spirit

Had been on a good run drinking with Jeffrey lately .... You can call it lucky that my wife gave mi full green light when it comes to drinking...not sure if it is a good thing or bad thing.

As far as I am concerned, it is a good thing...I like to drink in moderation - she also like to drink in moderation - Jeffrey also like to drink in moderation

But there is always the dark side of drinking - you tend to find listening a bit harder, voice getting a bit louder, situation awareness dropping exponentially, etc....

Got the heads up from Efung....come come come come come come....

Took some time off to go for a short holiday with Huimin.

This time round, we went up to Osaka for some good food and shopping. A very short trip with just two nite's stay. Min could had spent more time there, but because of mi working, we can only stay for two nites,.

It had been really great - lots of eating and shopping! Here is a typical makan schedule. Osaka may be city like, but there is absolutely no lacking of food!

1030hrs - coffee and cheese cake
1200hrs - Soba / Udon / Ramen
1400hrs - chicken wings and cream puff
1600hrs - okonomiyaki
1800hrs - Sushi!
2100hrs - Kirin draft beer

Managed to get two Gundam units at a good price.. This will keep mi accompanyed for a while... As for Min, she got herself some ear rings, clothings and compulsive buying at 100yen shop....

Not wanting to make it a pure shopping trip, we took a while to understand the railway system and made our way for a half day trip to Osaka aquarium. From the above pic, it contained a decent collection of the underwater world. What stands proud is the whale shark kept in a nine storey tall aquarium. A very impressive feat. It feels a bit cruel to keep it under capitivity, in my opinion, but the aquarium does serve as a good place for eco - conservation and educating the general public abt the underwater effort.

Yet another good drink mustered by the class last sat!!

Here is the front part :

Kind of lucky, cos when I first came to Foster's at Holland V, I was really trying my luck that I will be able to reserve a table of 15 just for drinking. I always had the habit of checking out the place personally to make sure that everything is all right, the drinks are okie, the crowd is not too bad, the service is good, etc...

Came up to the waiter and he called my name instantly"Hi, are you Mr Chong?"...waah! I was thinking - he must be damn good to know the customer name....It turned out that he was a former student of Min and he had met up with mi previously! Min was around also, and hence with a little bit of pull string, I managed to secure a table of 15 just for drinking on sat...good stuff!

Here is the middle:

Very good turnout from my NUS class! It was definitely nice to have the "give the Tiger the man" aka yong yuan to be back with us in the contigent. Gone are the days that he will fall under the influence of 2 bottles of beer...He was drinking a total of 7 bottles of beer in total + half flaming... He mentioned that he felt back missing out all our weddings while he was at work back at Liverpool....

It was nice catching up with Efung too as he made this tremendous effort to squeeze time for this gathering. He was back for 3 weeks and managed to secure a photo session with MM Lee.

When I am typing the journal, he was alreadi on his way back to New York (Round 2) on flight UA804 (Singapore - Narita - Washington DC - NY) He should still be up in the air....

Here is the end:

Yes, 55 bottles of beer spanned, lots of fun, not drunk, just chilled, lots of catching up,

Service by Foster was good and prompt, servers were smily and nice, manager Johnny was personal to the touch and 1+1 beer all nite long is too good to be true. Apple pie as dessert was nice and good music(alt between rock pop to live guitarist)to chill..

All in all, I am very happy with Foster...Good stuff!

I knoe this is the usual mi going hot and cold at times when it comes to writing journals...Should be writing more..

Came back from the mountains after the previous entry on stress...just want to learn the art of steady and here I am, came back from the top of the mountain doing secret training on how not to be stressed....

Ahh....disregard the above mentioned...

Okie, had been busy for the past three weeks actually....fly from wed to sat, rest for two days, again away from wed to sat, then off again on monday to tuesday....Johannasburg, Karachi, Lahore(tried to find some terrorist there but to no avail) and finally Amsterdam!....Amsterdam is the most interesting place of the three that I had been too, so I might cover that in the next entry....

Things covered so far...
1. Managed to convince Ah Frey to buy something unbelievible and he was telling mi the next day that the more that he looked at it, the more he learns to like it...Now i realise the value in branding.......

2. Watched 300 before it goes down from the movie theatre....read some of the blog reviews abt it and finally after three arrangement, I managed to watch it together with Min, Ah Frey and Dave...totally awesome to watch it on the big screen!! Spartans, are you ready to fight, as if the next moment you are going to die?

3. Fu han wedding
Yes, attended yet another wedding of a good friend of mine....came back from Lahore in the morning, caught some sleep and off I go to catch up with some sharks fin and abalone....Felt very happy for him and Shirleen to tie the knot together...the next one, Asher Lum wedding on 070707....Cool!

P.S. Btw, we had a good drink with him, and even his dad came in to intervene and drink with us...He totally gains my respect instanteneously...

4. Rock climbing
Did rock climb at Yishun safra.. Man, it was hard work, hard work...

5. Things to cover in the coming 3 weeks
A. "Give the Tiger a man" aka Yong Yuan is back! Efung aka Everest summitter and photographer is also back in town. The class gathering will rock and chill coming sat.
B. Quarterly getaway with Min
C. Reservist(Yes, I need to dig out my outdated uniform again)
D. Ex colleague gathering(Kudos to Meiting for organising that)
E. Back to the mountains for more stress control management training

Am I stressed or can I take stress?

Recently I did a personality test given to mi by a friend of mine... Did the test and found some interesting results.

1. I am confused
2. I am stressed
3. I am less stressed in my actual self

Okie...very much I do not want to believe it, but I always believe that there is always a reason behind it... YOu don't just throw a genius a task to set up this whole personality test overnite, am I right? The genius (so called genius) must had spent thousands and zillions of hours gathering data, speak to people, compile info and come out with this DISC test....

Once again, I believe in myself. At the very same time, I believe that this tool, or indicator, or test, or quiz or personality test is there for a reason. So the moral of the story - I am stressed.

Stress, stresses, stressed!

Hu.....I can take a different approach by using my usual technique. When the situation is stressful - I like to take a deep breath and pull myself out so that I can see the whole pic. When the left hand man is stressed, the right hand man takes a step back and look at the whole pic. When I do not know what is happening, I take a step back; when I feel that everything is too much, I take one step back....

Okie, it seems that on the inside, I am not stressed. Now how to show other people that I am not stressed?

3 types of people exists;
A. You are totally COOL.
Even when the world falls under you, you still can treat it like a blanket and cover yourself, keeping yourself warm to your advantage. You are "there", armed with your life experience and natural skills, you are always there to save the day.

B. "You are totally wayang" Man
These are the type of people who are totally amazing in turning "black into white". Look good, inside cannot make it never mind, live to tell another day. The ability to distort the face so gilak gilak(so good) that you are always there to save the day....Impressive

C. "Got a bit of stuff on the inside, but not showing it on the outside" MAN
Inside can take the amount of tumbling, but the facial, vocal and body language depicts otherwise. You may have the ability, but you do not know how to utilise it effectively...."Save the cheerleader, save the world, but how?" I know the solution is somewhere inside my heart, but I do not know how to use this special power of mine....

Eer...think I am starting to write rubbish, better take one step back and look at the big pic.

Let us recall the earlier observation of mine.
1. I am confused - Tink this is mainly because of the fact that sometimes, I can be so Mr Nice guy to my friends. But sometimes, I can be so Mr Nasty guy to Min, my mum, my bro etc...Given a choice, I will still work towards the personality of the former. Even though the fact that Mr Nice guy may be the loser at times, I am sure that with his preservenance, he will make it and make the world a better place...

2. I am stressed - I am not as good as Jaslin Husband Dave in clinching the Golden Horse best actor award. But in terms of stress, I will continue to build up the mental capacity to do so...like where to eat, who to eat, what to do in off days...hahahaha!

3. I am less stressed in my actual self - Which I feel is good as if I am stressed when I am facing my inner self, I cannot imagine myself working in the outside world.

To conveniently summarise and the perfect solution,

I need to go for my quarterly getaway soon and most importantly, I am what I am....

yesterday, when Min and myself went for dinner

Still the same place, still the same girl - priceless

Coined this as classic. First learned this when I was looking at some of Min's eldest sis's melbourne photos years ago. They had a particular photo posing in front of the melbourne train. So when Min and I visited Melbourne, we posed exactly the same way as they had in the photo. Thought it was quite cool to do that... At least been there done that. Some things had changed, while some things had not.

No more China Jump(that was where we had dinner), but we had the sun and moon jap restaurant....Food there is good, snatching off a 30percent discount on the last day celebration of the restaurant's second anniversary...Sweet!

Seldom had a chance to dine out on a monday night, thanks to Min...Had a good pre dinner drink at Father Flanagan's, Chijmes, followed by dinner at Sun and Moon Japanese restaurant.

Later met up with Ah-Frey and Mingyun for a not so crowded gathering at Balaclava..That is right, post dinner drinks are indeed necessary....empty seats on the left, empty seats on the right. Had never felt better b4. Not saying that the place is absolute empty, but crowded enough just to chill....

Got a fantastic gift from Min yesterday, courtesy of Vinson CHua...

What a night!! (Actually, a lot of nights had passed since the event occured)The wondering wanderer is back to "lah lah" for 5 days and Ah frey, Min, myself, Kapor and mingyun had the luxury to have a drink at our Annual Wala session! What a drink it had been... lots of catching up and updates on how everyone is doing....

I know that I said that I will drink in moderation and practicality, but when such a dear friend came back, Aliying had to do what Aliying had to do....Beer, long island tea, burbon and the ultimate combination came - Waterfall and flaming combo! Damn!!!!! Fortunately, I had survived...No wasted at all, no wasted at all...Contrary to that, Eizac and Jeffrey had a good time spinning their heads around, teleporting to and fro Sydney...hahaha!

All in all, Eizac is still doing well in Sydney and I must say that it is no easy survival skill in a foreign land...Kudos to him for being the not the usual singaporean representing us out in the whole world out there....

Till the next Wala!!! Eer, I think I am going to Wala next Thu with my JC ODAC guys,....u know?

The pursuit of happyiness instead of happiness...

I was given feedback that the blog of mine is not being updated as much as it should be....Man, you cannot blame mi the moderator, as during the Chinese New Year, when you swallow nearly 1.6kg of bak kwa, you really feel shiok man!

Way to go jaden! This boy is here to stay in Hollywood! Watched the pursuit of "happyiness" with Ah frey and coy and found it to be not a too bad show to watch and give myself a five cent ten cent worth of thought after the show. In my own way, what happyiness am I really pursuing in life? Is it a good career? Is it good health? Is it a good spouse? (Oops this one I got alreadi cos Min had been by my side all these years and many good years to come...)

I personally feel that happyiness is a bit everything...Not super rich till I can drive ferrari, but rich enough to buy my drinking buddies a round of drinks at wala wala....Not super healthy that I must eat heathly organic food everything, but healthy enough to live beyond 60 and still eat my roasted duck and bak kwa. Also one spouse is enough to last for a lifetime for mi alreadi...

ThIS is my pursuit of happyiness...yourself????

Using Min notebook to type this entry...a long time since an entry had been made..

A decision had been made for the notebook - to go for repair...$$down the drain and hope that it will work. Felt it is a pity not to repair it as it is still in good condition for general work, surfing and watching anime... Also to increase it selling price...

Eizac aka wondering wanderer is back in Singapore and believe mi, what a nite it had been for all of us at Wala Wala! Once the photos are in, we will re-enact the Wala Wala experience!

Efung is safe and sound in NY

Just got the email from Stefen that he is safe and sound in NY....

As for myself in Sillypore, things are gearing up...just recovered from a cold...not the best of the feeling though...

Tried to develop photo, my portable hard disk cannot work; tried to repair my watch but missed the exit from PIE. I sense a bit of disappointment in my side...However, I took a deep breath and say - there is no need to feel disappointed, there is always the next time... I shall grow from this experience and move on like a man!

No, we am still not on my honeymoon... but we are going in exactly 36hours time....

Went back to work for a while...not too bad with hong kong and Osaka..Now here I am, standing in front of the TV watching "Hitch", preparing myself to go to the honeymoon with Min.

I learned that the history of honeymoon is for the couple to sneak off silently in the middle of the reception to go for the honeymoon. I thought that was really tiring to do so...but it sounds cool though...

I am simply not writing as much as I should! The last few days had been intense and enjoyable,..lots of catching up with people and sorts of!

I will summarise this all at one shot to justify the reason why I am not writing as much as I should, also for myself to look back and say that it had been ain good doing all these stuff!

weijie wedding on monday - it had been really nice attending a sec school friend wedding at Hyatt + lots of catching up with kok heng, Rijian, lijun, Sizhen, Yee Hean, Mr Bear See siong lim, ziqi father Jinkun, etc.... >>>sorting up my financial policy,...that is tough work to insure myself, went through alot of intrinsic details b4 finalising what I want,, that should be able to cover mi comfortably for the time being>>>Celebrated Min birthday, for the same purpose, for the different experience cos this time round, it is spent with Mahjong and friends>>>Penang to and fro>>>Family gathering, out of the sudden, I found myself talking non stop to Binghui, nicole and Glendon>>>Sort out the details with Sheena of GCWF abt the wedding details...yes, it is just less than a month b4 my wedding>>>met up with my secondary school friends3 times in a week..it is simply amazing that the fact we had not caught up with one another for the last 10 months, it is squeezed up in a week of 3 gatherings...A good one organised by Daniel, along with the ever laughing Kama, the stern and steady father, Jerry and the full of C**p Daniel...not forgetting mi, the pilot turned security guard after work...>>>Hari raya celebation at Kama house..it is so goody to be able to enjoy the malay goodies, self made further>>Oops, how can I forget the exciting Metal slug game whereby you are supposed to drink a bit of reds when your character dies? Should I stay or should I go?

I was reading Mr Miyagi blog and realised that he is moving on from the Mr Brown Show... Kind of sad that the good times had ended, but one had to realise that as one gets himself in the comfort zone, is it time to stay or should I go? Miyagi is the best man to answer himself.

The pastures may be greener on the other side, but there is always a risk there. For one, I am not the super chio ster garang trooper man, so I tend to be more on the conservative side. But too conservative is no good either. Balance is the keyword here..Am I am still working on it....

Was reading Dion blog and realised that much of the year had gone past in the blink of an eye! Very much I wished I could had done more, but there is just too little time(ooh, come on, aliying...think you spent too much time sleeping alreadi and also too much time spent finishing a trivial affair)

For myself and the rest of the readers, let's cherish the remaining days till the end of 2006 and make it a new natural high!

The last bachelor drinking session...No holds barred!

Was reminded by my friend -...."eer, when are you going to do a write up on the drinking session at ECP chalet?" Still feeling strong after the mumbai experience, I carried on to write abt the last bachelor drinking session with my uni guys at ECP chalet? "what, still got chalet gathering at your late twenties, OMG!!!"

A strong turnout of abt 18 of us came...In good spirit of the class gathering since year 2000. It felt so good to be at the receiving end as Mark and weimin were the ones organising it. It felt so good to be able to attend the class gathering, even though everyone was very busy with their own personal committment.

Kudos to Mark and weimin for organising it. It was a nice and breezy dinner at Scruffy Murphy. Even Kat aka Jieru aka Chio haolian came by to say hi. Believe it or not, the guys do appreciate your effort! You could have just steer clear of us with your roller blading, but you came by to say hi! Nicey!

Back to the no holds barred drinking, after the dinner, it was the time to say "Ta" time. "Ta" to Mini Martell, "Ta" to vanilla volka, "Ta" to Chinese Atomic bomb, "Ta"to Coffee Liquor, "Ta" to Laos beer, compliments from Efung. The drinking is fierce, even for myself....Man, it is time for the previous best three drinkers to step down and to witness the arrival of the new gen drinkers, Mark, Elsen and Thomas...(Thomas would be my next target....whack him big time next.....hahaahahh!)

Good Time? Definitely...Next time still have good time? Definitely!

Bombay/Mumbai

The trip to Bombay/Mumbai is worth mentioning cos
1. First time I am there
2. My good old American friend, Colin Mark Holmes is working there and it feels really great to hear from him that he is fine.
3. It feels so good to be near the himalayas again. The weather is not the same though.

The trip to mumbai sorts of trigger the desire to explore new places...Here it goes..

1. Took a tuk tuk to the train station Andheri. It costs abt 25rupees(Rs) and it is similar to the Thai tuk tuk... the usual horning and near misses along the road.

2. Took a train down south to a place called churchgate terminal. Cost abt 30Rs one way. The mumbai train is really notorious and not for the faint hearted. But I must say that it is really an experience. The train, though very out dated, cramped and very crowded. But it still remains as one of the most efficent and cheap way of getting around Mumbai. People of all shapes and size SQUEEZE into the train as one, and people would squeeze into the almost impossible space available on the train. If you are alighting, you better be slightly aggressive and fast cos everyone is pushing one another to get off the train..Must take care! And yes, I saw somebody climbing to the roof and inbetween carriages to hook up on the train. And there is also a drunkard hidding himself under the seat. NOW, I really know that the Singapore MRT is really not too bad after all!

3. At the churchgate terminal, continue your journey to a tourist place called Colaba by Tuk tuk again (20Rs)

4. Colaba is the tourist place where you can find cheap bargains in books (made in India), clothings and accessories. There is also the Colaba market where there are various sales of spices and fruits.

5. Poverty is very much visual on the streets. A lot of built up slums and young singlehood mother...Very much I like to chip in my five cent ten cents worth, but I know I must not...cos this will make them believe thet begging can get them round...And once you give to one, all the rest of them will come swarming to mi. The recipent may not benefit as he or she may be robbed after that...Believe mi, I had seen that with my own eyes in Nepal.

Enough of the mixed feeling, life still goes on, the earth still spins. Photography wise, lots of interesting sights to take of...enjoy!

Drinking and dining this weekend

This weekend may seems to be a nice chillout dinner at East Coast Park with my classmates...but it seems that there is a even more evil plan to get some of us grooms-to-be to be drunk. We will see, we will see.

Met up for a beer with Efung and Jeffrey yesterday. Showed them to the Maple Bar along Jalan Jurong Kechil around Bukit Timah. A nice cosy pub with Kathy serving us the drinks. They also had Yakitori if you are hungry..definitely goes well with the beer there....Crowd wise, we are looking at executives chilling out after work, some middle aged uncles gathering together for a drink and 3 young punks in their T shirt and Berms standing at the entrance going in for a drink.

Five bottles of beer(SGD33.30) + 3 guys = nice chillout

We chatted alot, talking abt project everest b4 38. It felt so good to realise that the mountain is still in Ah frey's agenda. Initally thought that Full Ironman would be his main stream ever since the start of last year. Now looking ahead, we have two gay friends (Aliying and Ah frey)to climb everest(may not be that mountain, but at least somewhere close to it..) is something I had not done for the last three years alreadi... Kind of miss it...

Efung's Laos trip is very enriching too. Nearly missed his transit as he makes his way from new Bangkok to old Bangkok airport...haahah! Coming back lies more challanges and projects ahead for him....Overseas work next year,...cool stuff!

Chong the photo Collage maker

Was doing this for the first time for Min's niece's 5th birthday.
Had always been wanting to do a photo collage and felt that it is a good representation of the live you had lived till now...easier also for the guest to have a general overview of the pic rather than flipping through pages and pages of photo album.

A bit of the hard work, but not too hard as some of the photos are shot by self.

When Nicole saw it, she went "wah" and then straight away, went back to her seat to watch the animated series, Mr Bean.

Kids shall be kids.... ha!

Just my luck

This is a dated movie which I watched last night. Sum up the story in one simple sentence - The girl is very lucky and the boy is very unlucky. They kiss each other and swap the luck with one another. Then they kiss one another and swap it back again...And again, and again.

How lucky is lucky? Striking jackpot every time; 4 taxis waiting for you everytime you raise your hands; everytime you step out of the house, it will be sunshine; your dry cleaning clothes come back to become a sexy no from Sarah Jessica Parker.

How unlucky is unlucky? Your key broke when you open the door; you got splashed by a puddle of water when a taxi when passed you; your umbrella fail you big time in a torrential thunderstorm; you drop the lightblub when you are fixing up a new one; You come home finding that your place is flooded; You are sacked by your manager for something stupid.

The show is unbelievably and amazingly lucky and unlucky. Sometimes, I wish that all men and women are made equal in terms of happiness, health and luck. But, in the reality of life, we got to admit that this can never happen. Some people are indeed luckier than others. Some people are happier than others. Some people are more contented than others. How abt that small little thought of mine? If I am unlucky today, I am sure that the cycle will be over and good things will come by mi soon? That is when Mr Murphy comes round the corner for a sneak attack on you!

Wait long long hor~

Just felt that in some points of my life, I am really in my down times - to an extent that my friend asked mi to go Bugis Kwan Yin temple to pray pray. The whole 9 months of mahjong had been money out of the tray, not in the other direction. My spiderman figurine fell from the top of the ceiling, comprain comprain and more comprains from myself. Sign....why I cannot be smooth smooth steady steady....To tell you the truth, I struggled quite hard for some of the down times....Trust mi.

But in spite of the downs, had I ever looked at up times? I am in the most pink of health(if you disregard the occasional crazy drinking at times - got to blame Ah-Frey for that!), I am blessed with all four limbs working normally, good eye sight. I got good Hakka Yong Tau Foo to eat, decent job, able to run, financially coming back on track and clearing outstanding accurs. A new home, upcoming wedding and the support of Min by my side throughout the years.

I guess at the end of the day, being self contented is very important. A pinch of luck does enhances the daily lives - Treat it as an entitlement, not a privilage.

Disneyland b4 30...can it be achieved?

The map of Disneyland. Yes, I am planning to go there at the end of the year. Had always wanted to fulfil this childhood dream of mine to visit the place. I would not say that I am a hard core disney fan(you don't see mi carrying a mickey mouse bag, using a mickey mouse handphone, using a donald duck wallet)...But you know what...there is indeed a piece of mickey in my house - a 2000 piece mickey jigsaw puzzle done up by Huimin years ago. :)

But the thought of going to disneyland had always lingered in my mind....at least must do it once. DO it good, do it once! I may be a man, but I have the heart of a small little boy at times.... ahahah!

Hope it will be a dream come true at the end of the year...stay tuned!

Needing all the help I can get from my friends and family

The wedding is really coming nearer, day after day...
How do I know that?
1. The event manager of the hotel called mi to go for food tasting...
2. The executive in charge of the wedding card called mi to finalise the wedding card design.
3. Jeffrey asked mi if I need any help(brw, he is my chief planner for the wedding) b4 he whizz his ass to Rockhampton, Australia for his one month long reservist training.
4. My mother is sitting at the kitchen table counting the no of cards that she needs to notify her friends and relatives.
5. I had yet to pass the photos to my youngest brother, Yingsheng for the video presentation clip.
6. I had received strong response from our friends who would be gracing the ceremony. To all my friends, thank you for your support! Colin Mark Colmes from India, Eizac from Sydney and Olivia from Perth.
7. I had started to plan for my honeymoon.
8. I had started to flip bridal magazine to think abt what should I wear for the actual wedding day. (Finally my time to ponder what to wear had come!!!)
9. My anniversary with Min is coming next month
10. Huimin eldest sister, Huili asked"how many kids do you want???" Eer.....

To my friends,

Thanks to all for taking time off to make it for the house warming...as I am typing this, daniel and thomas are still playing mahjong. Luckily, Huimin is winning money...hahaahh!

All of us, I think, had a good time eating, drinking and catching up with one another...my place is kind of difficult to find...but you all still made the tremendous effort to come for the class outing...thanks!

Thanks for all the vouchers given to mi and Huimin as gifts...that really helps... :)
