Recently, I visited my friend's blog www.millionraindrops.blogspot.com and came to know that she watched a movie called "Shall we dance" by Richard Gere, J Lo and Susan XXX. So with that in mind, I rented the DVD and watched it.
A romantic comedy, it is abt a lawyer called John Clark who wanted something in a box instead of the usual writing wills for other people. He wanted to make things happen for himself - his desire to learn ballroom dancing. So with alot of apprehension, determination and willpower, he braved himself to learn it. Shall not tell you all what happened in between, but the ending struck mi most when John came to his wife in a suit with a single red rose inbetween, in the middle of a shopping centre. Man, even a man like mi who die to have such a wonderful and impactful scene.
Two things that I learn from the movie:
1. It reminded mi of my JC Prom nite, in particular. How nice it would had been if I know a bit of ballroom dancing. Then, I can go up to my newly founded girlfriend then, Huimin and ask her "SHall we dance?". Now ten years later, I still do not know a single step of ballroom dancing. Guess it would be funny for mi to be dressed up in a suit and start swaying away left right centre. But it is always small motivations here that makes mi ask myself again - Shall I learn ballroom dancing? How much do I desire? How can I make it happen? It may not happen, even when I finished my advanced training in Brisbane and back to Singapore. The rest is up to mi -
2. A single red rose may sound very silly, but I guess girls, in general, really love roses alot. It had been a while since I gave roses to my wife due overseas work committment. So if you are reading this, do not tell my wife that I will be sending her flowers soon. Roses work for mi, how abt you??
Good day, ladies and gentleman, I am going fishing for the nite.
