No.No..No...

No, we am still not on my honeymoon... but we are going in exactly 36hours time....

Went back to work for a while...not too bad with hong kong and Osaka..Now here I am, standing in front of the TV watching "Hitch", preparing myself to go to the honeymoon with Min.

I learned that the history of honeymoon is for the couple to sneak off silently in the middle of the reception to go for the honeymoon. I thought that was really tiring to do so...but it sounds cool though...

that is all for now...post wedding celebration begins!

Post wedding thoughts

Our wedding is done!

So much thoughts, so much excitement, so much fun and laughter, so much to look forward to, so much to learn from, experience, been there done that!

THat is just so much things, but I will keep it...detailed!

Thanks to my parents for bringing mi up in a stress free environment, giving mi a lot of flexibiltiy to do what I want to achieve

Thanks to huimin parent for giving mi the once in a lifetime opportunity to have Huimin by my side

Thanks to Hendrick, Diana, nicole, glendon, Binghui, Huili, Leia, Kok Heng, Huizhen, Carisse for guiding mi throughout my foundative years with Huimin. I thank you all for giving mi the permission to take care of Huimin.

Thanks to Yao, chunhui, YS and Ah Kim for being part of my Chong family.

Thanks to Jeffrey aka Ah frey for being aliying's co-ordinator, advisor, consultant, drink master, banquet co-ordinator, wine controller, time keeper, drink master, everything! He had been my soulmate for a very very long time, over the never ending kopitiam beer, in Nepal doing the annapurna circuit, QM in JJC ODAC, shacking it out in Tahan together, drinking merrily at wala wala, balaclava, wine bar, sam bar, more kopitiam beer, "five token self made"king in mahjong, watching anime, running and more drinking...
Thank you for sitting down with mi listening to mi ali - that really helps alot, my dear friend.

Thanks to Maggie for being Huimin co-ordinator, organise tekan session, consultant, making sure Huimin is the prettiest, watching her every sec throughout the whole wedding, sharing of pointers

Thanks to Dave for being the muscle man in the brother clan..tough time don't last, tough man do...I will always remember that!

Thanks to Lip Chee for styling his hair just for our wedding..believe mi or not, you look damn good man! nearly swept mi off the ground...You are the person that I knew for the longest since sec 1 and we had not looked back since...I am very very happy that we got hitched together to Maggie and Huimin respectively..

Thanks to Mark for all the notes he had passed down to us with regards to his wedding, appointment list, schedule for that day, anticipating problems, table arrangement formula, things to bring..All these can be bought at a special price of 45USD. Contact aliying for more details if you want to make sure that your wedding is a success..Mine is!

Thanks to Efung for making such an "everest" effort to make it for the wedding...one photoshoot inbetn the tea ceremony and dinner and the standard chartered marthon photo shoot the next day is really a hell of a schedule for you! Not forgetting your wonderful shoot given to us as a gift...thanks!

Thanks to Elsen who make sure that his helping hand is always there for mi. It was really nice to have you by our side :) Always watching over mi, never to slightest wanting to claim any credit...You are the MAN!

Thanks to weimin for enduring my demanding request for the audio visuals....Nearly maxed you out on this highly demanding job!! Both min and myself really enjoyed the montages and the music is fantastic!

Thanks to Julian for my last min request for his help...I will always remember how we go through Tahan together, and I always believe that you still cook the nicest rice when we are camping..Tahan clan forever! Rock with leeches, baby!

Thanks to you, my friend -Colin Mark Holmes, for making such an amazing effort to fly in to Singapore from New Delhi. Your very presence makes the whole wedding unique and interesting.. Your megawatt smile never fails to attract the opposite sex to come over to you naturally. I really appreciate the gift of Ganesh and the multi currency ang pao..Thank you once again, my friend.

Next, to the girls..

Thank you, Jaslin for being so onz since I first met you in JJC ODAC..You are very fierce at the tekan session...BUT I CAN TAKE IT!!!

Thanks to Pei Yin for taking time off to be Huimin sister...Though look blur, you are always there to pick up something that all of us miss...This is what I call "looking at the big pic"!

Thanks to Judy for your "horny" song that I am obliged to dance with....It is really nice, fun and enjoyable to have the element of the "good church girl" for our wedding!!! More Long island tea, my friend!!!

Thanks to Mingyun, aka "Miss Chong", for being such a close friend to aliying and Huimin. YOU!!! I say YOU!!! really had a good time tekaning mi ha!! All the extra large tomato, extra sour lime juice, wasabi with chilli padi and raw bittergourd(I can take on this easily!!!) must be your idea lor....the 1 bird, 1 bird 1 bird +++ mahjong combination, the matriculation no, etc...must be your IDEA!!! YOu!!!!
However, despite all these tekan session, my brothers and I really enjoyed it very much!! All the laughter, all the fun, all the enjoyment and all the rowdiness makes my wedding a very much memorable affair for many years to come.

Next...bear with mi...

Thanks to all our friends, relative and colleagues for taking time off to grace the ceremony.

Like to thanks also those who cannot make it for our wedding, but still, in one way or another, offer gifts and tokens to us - Wayne, Chin leong, Chia Sheng, Eizac, Ting Ting, April, Hanrong, Youtian, Coral, David Teng, Daniel, Fuhan, Daniel Tan, Betty Boo, Gina, We really appreciate that! Thanks

Thanks to all those people who had made this wedding possible - esp Sheena from Grand Copthorne Waterfront hotel, Hisham the floor manager, Stefii florist, my fav florist Eunice, Connie, Timothy, Alex and ah Long the actual day photographer, Ah ju auntie aka matchmaker, the mouse of the day Junda, Sandy(Golden Horse award), Sam and Linda, weiquong for the make up, Shan (Engagement party and outdoor shoot Make up artist), Eugene from Chris Ling and many more...Thanks!

Happy marriage, Judy and Julian(extreme left)! It had been so nice to see the both of you tie up the knot together...

Never would I expect that bringing the both of you to a trekking trip, unknown to each other then, will led on to a relationship and follow up to be husband and wife...

My heartiest congrats to the both of you, once again.

Wat I had done for the last few days...

I am simply not writing as much as I should! The last few days had been intense and enjoyable,..lots of catching up with people and sorts of!

I will summarise this all at one shot to justify the reason why I am not writing as much as I should, also for myself to look back and say that it had been ain good doing all these stuff!

here is goes
weijie wedding on monday - it had been really nice attending a sec school friend wedding at Hyatt + lots of catching up with kok heng, Rijian, lijun, Sizhen, Yee Hean, Mr Bear See siong lim, ziqi father Jinkun, etc.... >>>sorting up my financial policy,...that is tough work to insure myself, went through alot of intrinsic details b4 finalising what I want,, that should be able to cover mi comfortably for the time being>>>Celebrated Min birthday, for the same purpose, for the different experience cos this time round, it is spent with Mahjong and friends>>>Penang to and fro>>>Family gathering, out of the sudden, I found myself talking non stop to Binghui, nicole and Glendon>>>Sort out the details with Sheena of GCWF abt the wedding details...yes, it is just less than a month b4 my wedding>>>met up with my secondary school friends3 times in a week..it is simply amazing that the fact we had not caught up with one another for the last 10 months, it is squeezed up in a week of 3 gatherings...A good one organised by Daniel, along with the ever laughing Kama, the stern and steady father, Jerry and the full of C**p Daniel...not forgetting mi, the pilot turned security guard after work...>>>Hari raya celebation at Kama house..it is so goody to be able to enjoy the malay goodies, self made further>>Oops, how can I forget the exciting Metal slug game whereby you are supposed to drink a bit of reds when your character dies? We end up finishing two bottles of red...haahah! >>> And lastly, sending off Ah Frey at the airport..he will be back in late nov....see you soon, dude!

Should I stay or should I go?

I was reading Mr Miyagi blog and realised that he is moving on from the Mr Brown Show... Kind of sad that the good times had ended, but one had to realise that as one gets himself in the comfort zone, is it time to stay or should I go? Miyagi is the best man to answer himself.

The pastures may be greener on the other side, but there is always a risk there. For one, I am not the super chio ster garang trooper man, so I tend to be more on the conservative side. But too conservative is no good either. Balance is the keyword here..Am I am still working on it....

Was reading Dion blog and realised that much of the year had gone past in the blink of an eye! Very much I wished I could had done more, but there is just too little time(ooh, come on, aliying...think you spent too much time sleeping alreadi and also too much time spent finishing a trivial affair)

For myself and the rest of the readers, let's cherish the remaining days till the end of 2006 and make it a new natural high!

The last bachelor drinking session...No holds barred!

Was reminded by my friend -...."eer, when are you going to do a write up on the drinking session at ECP chalet?" Still feeling strong after the mumbai experience, I carried on to write abt the last bachelor drinking session with my uni guys at ECP chalet? "what, still got chalet gathering at your late twenties, OMG!!!"

A strong turnout of abt 18 of us came...In good spirit of the class gathering since year 2000. It felt so good to be at the receiving end as Mark and weimin were the ones organising it. It felt so good to be able to attend the class gathering, even though everyone was very busy with their own personal committment.

Kudos to Mark and weimin for organising it. It was a nice and breezy dinner at Scruffy Murphy. Even Kat aka Jieru aka Chio haolian came by to say hi. Believe it or not, the guys do appreciate your effort! You could have just steer clear of us with your roller blading, but you came by to say hi! Nicey!

Back to the no holds barred drinking, after the dinner, it was the time to say "Ta" time. "Ta" to Mini Martell, "Ta" to vanilla volka, "Ta" to Chinese Atomic bomb, "Ta"to Coffee Liquor, "Ta" to Laos beer, compliments from Efung. The drinking is fierce, even for myself....Man, it is time for the previous best three drinkers to step down and to witness the arrival of the new gen drinkers, Mark, Elsen and Thomas...(Thomas would be my next target....whack him big time next.....hahaahahh!)

Good Time? Definitely...Next time still have good time? Definitely!

Pic are belows, copyrights from Mingyun. Enjoy!

These are the MEN!

Aliying and Chin Chew:"you want sake or volka 7 Up??"

Jamson(far left):"I want both"
Three going-to-get-married men(from left:Aliying, Jamson aka big boss and Chin Chew)

Next day breakfast - 2 bowls of Katong laska each....No home sweet home feeling!

Bombay/Mumbai

The trip to Bombay/Mumbai is worth mentioning cos
1. First time I am there
2. My good old American friend, Colin Mark Holmes is working there and it feels really great to hear from him that he is fine.
3. It feels so good to be near the himalayas again. The weather is not the same though.

The trip to mumbai sorts of trigger the desire to explore new places...Here it goes..

1. Took a tuk tuk to the train station Andheri. It costs abt 25rupees(Rs) and it is similar to the Thai tuk tuk... the usual horning and near misses along the road.

2. Took a train down south to a place called churchgate terminal. Cost abt 30Rs one way. The mumbai train is really notorious and not for the faint hearted. But I must say that it is really an experience. The train, though very out dated, cramped and very crowded. But it still remains as one of the most efficent and cheap way of getting around Mumbai. People of all shapes and size SQUEEZE into the train as one, and people would squeeze into the almost impossible space available on the train. If you are alighting, you better be slightly aggressive and fast cos everyone is pushing one another to get off the train..Must take care! And yes, I saw somebody climbing to the roof and inbetween carriages to hook up on the train. And there is also a drunkard hidding himself under the seat. NOW, I really know that the Singapore MRT is really not too bad after all!

3. At the churchgate terminal, continue your journey to a tourist place called Colaba by Tuk tuk again (20Rs)

4. Colaba is the tourist place where you can find cheap bargains in books (made in India), clothings and accessories. There is also the Colaba market where there are various sales of spices and fruits.

5. Poverty is very much visual on the streets. A lot of built up slums and young singlehood mother...Very much I like to chip in my five cent ten cents worth, but I know I must not...cos this will make them believe thet begging can get them round...And once you give to one, all the rest of them will come swarming to mi. The recipent may not benefit as he or she may be robbed after that...Believe mi, I had seen that with my own eyes in Nepal.

Enough of the mixed feeling, life still goes on, the earth still spins. Photography wise, lots of interesting sights to take of...enjoy!

Anyone want a cooking pan from my head?
Eer, I say again - which telephone line is unservicable?
On the Mumbai train. I am coming home, mama!
Believe mi, this is still not full yet on the mumbai train
Ladies cabin only - no guys are allowed..Interesting!

Drinking and dining this weekend

This weekend may seems to be a nice chillout dinner at East Coast Park with my classmates...but it seems that there is a even more evil plan to get some of us grooms-to-be to be drunk. We will see, we will see.

Met up for a beer with Efung and Jeffrey yesterday. Showed them to the Maple Bar along Jalan Jurong Kechil around Bukit Timah. A nice cosy pub with Kathy serving us the drinks. They also had Yakitori if you are hungry..definitely goes well with the beer there....Crowd wise, we are looking at executives chilling out after work, some middle aged uncles gathering together for a drink and 3 young punks in their T shirt and Berms standing at the entrance going in for a drink.

Five bottles of beer(SGD33.30) + 3 guys = nice chillout

We chatted alot, talking abt project everest b4 38. It felt so good to realise that the mountain is still in Ah frey's agenda. Initally thought that Full Ironman would be his main stream ever since the start of last year. Now looking ahead, we have two gay friends (Aliying and Ah frey)to climb everest(may not be that mountain, but at least somewhere close to it..) is something I had not done for the last three years alreadi... Kind of miss it...

Efung's Laos trip is very enriching too. Nearly missed his transit as he makes his way from new Bangkok to old Bangkok airport...haahah! Coming back lies more challanges and projects ahead for him....Overseas work next year,...cool stuff!

For the drinks portion, stay tuned!

Chong the photo Collage maker

Was doing this for the first time for Min's niece's 5th birthday.
Had always been wanting to do a photo collage and felt that it is a good representation of the live you had lived till now...easier also for the guest to have a general overview of the pic rather than flipping through pages and pages of photo album.

A bit of the hard work, but not too hard as some of the photos are shot by self.

When Nicole saw it, she went "wah" and then straight away, went back to her seat to watch the animated series, Mr Bean.

Kids shall be kids.... ha!

Just my luck

This is a dated movie which I watched last night. Sum up the story in one simple sentence - The girl is very lucky and the boy is very unlucky. They kiss each other and swap the luck with one another. Then they kiss one another and swap it back again...And again, and again.

How lucky is lucky? Striking jackpot every time; 4 taxis waiting for you everytime you raise your hands; everytime you step out of the house, it will be sunshine; your dry cleaning clothes come back to become a sexy no from Sarah Jessica Parker.

How unlucky is unlucky? Your key broke when you open the door; you got splashed by a puddle of water when a taxi when passed you; your umbrella fail you big time in a torrential thunderstorm; you drop the lightblub when you are fixing up a new one; You come home finding that your place is flooded; You are sacked by your manager for something stupid.

The show is unbelievably and amazingly lucky and unlucky. Sometimes, I wish that all men and women are made equal in terms of happiness, health and luck. But, in the reality of life, we got to admit that this can never happen. Some people are indeed luckier than others. Some people are happier than others. Some people are more contented than others. How abt that small little thought of mine? If I am unlucky today, I am sure that the cycle will be over and good things will come by mi soon? That is when Mr Murphy comes round the corner for a sneak attack on you!

Wait long long hor~

Just felt that in some points of my life, I am really in my down times - to an extent that my friend asked mi to go Bugis Kwan Yin temple to pray pray. The whole 9 months of mahjong had been money out of the tray, not in the other direction. My spiderman figurine fell from the top of the ceiling, comprain comprain and more comprains from myself. Sign....why I cannot be smooth smooth steady steady....To tell you the truth, I struggled quite hard for some of the down times....Trust mi.

But in spite of the downs, had I ever looked at up times? I am in the most pink of health(if you disregard the occasional crazy drinking at times - got to blame Ah-Frey for that!), I am blessed with all four limbs working normally, good eye sight. I got good Hakka Yong Tau Foo to eat, decent job, able to run, financially coming back on track and clearing outstanding accurs. A new home, upcoming wedding and the support of Min by my side throughout the years.

I guess at the end of the day, being self contented is very important. A pinch of luck does enhances the daily lives - Treat it as an entitlement, not a privilage.

Disneyland b4 30...can it be achieved?

The map of Disneyland. Yes, I am planning to go there at the end of the year. Had always wanted to fulfil this childhood dream of mine to visit the place. I would not say that I am a hard core disney fan(you don't see mi carrying a mickey mouse bag, using a mickey mouse handphone, using a donald duck wallet)...But you know what...there is indeed a piece of mickey in my house - a 2000 piece mickey jigsaw puzzle done up by Huimin years ago. :)

But the thought of going to disneyland had always lingered in my mind....at least must do it once. DO it good, do it once! I may be a man, but I have the heart of a small little boy at times.... ahahah!

Hope it will be a dream come true at the end of the year...stay tuned!

Needing all the help I can get from my friends and family

The wedding is really coming nearer, day after day...
How do I know that?
1. The event manager of the hotel called mi to go for food tasting...
2. The executive in charge of the wedding card called mi to finalise the wedding card design.
3. Jeffrey asked mi if I need any help(brw, he is my chief planner for the wedding) b4 he whizz his ass to Rockhampton, Australia for his one month long reservist training.
4. My mother is sitting at the kitchen table counting the no of cards that she needs to notify her friends and relatives.
5. I had yet to pass the photos to my youngest brother, Yingsheng for the video presentation clip.
6. I had received strong response from our friends who would be gracing the ceremony. To all my friends, thank you for your support! Colin Mark Colmes from India, Eizac from Sydney and Olivia from Perth.
7. I had started to plan for my honeymoon.
8. I had started to flip bridal magazine to think abt what should I wear for the actual wedding day. (Finally my time to ponder what to wear had come!!!)
9. My anniversary with Min is coming next month
10. Huimin eldest sister, Huili asked"how many kids do you want???" Eer.....

Looking back at Time

was backup-ing my files when I came across this photo that I had taken this year. Left to right was Jerry, myself, min and youtian. This was taken somewhere in June when my house was just ready.

Looking back, I had known them for half of my lifetime alreadi...since I met them in Swiss Cottage sec school. I strongly remembered that the first time I really met them was in a Swiss Cottage Leadership camp. I was introduced to Jerry and youtian by Ben and Daniel. THose days, I really hated the prefects cos I was always late for school. As a consequence, I had to do corrective work like pick up litters and do other coolie job.

So when I came for the leadership camp, I was thinking...ok lah, just another camp..suffer and go, simple as that.

THen came the hardship during the camp. I must say that it is always through hardship that you get to have great friends who would stand by your side when you are in need. Jerry and Youtian are exactly two great people that fitted into the pic.

Looking back at time, I felt great and privilaged to have a chance to meet these two friends..

Looking back at time

Devil wears prada

Went to watch the show with Min on Fri...I am sure everyone is writing about the above mentioned show...but here is my critics...*wah lau, you tink u movie critic ha!*

1. Nice
Just thought that this movie is not too bad to catch it off the silver screen. Alot of meaning behind it. Alot fo times, people got too overwhelmed by material stuff...To the extent that they forgot to slow down, take a deep breath and ask themselves - what are you looking for in life?

2. Fashion
Even mi enjoy the fashion segment. If a non fashion geek like mi can enjoy armani and valantino, then everyone can!

3. Andy
She is such a sweet character to Nick...you lucky guy!

4. Good acting
Kudos to Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway for their excellent acting skills... Sharp and absolutely devil-ish..

5. First time to The Cathay
Good seats, screen and surround sys.. alot of SMU undergrads and Yuppies hanging around...

The pirates of the Carribean at the wine bar

20 glasses of Tequila pop, 10 jars of long island tea -

Kudos to Efung (first left)who came late because he is covering the Singapore China soccer match as a photojournalist

Myself and Min

Capt Jack is in Zouk wine bar!!!

Wat is happening on my right?? (Jingyi, Chin Chew and Afrey)

Efung, Myself and birthday boy, Afrey

Wat a nite! It had been a while since I had been to wine bar, and I must say that I had a really good time there. I guess the pic best explains the gathering. Nearly "Home sweet home" without realising that("Home Sweet Home" is coined by my friend Afrey, meaning that you are totally drunk and that you cannot recall how you made your way back, and the next thing that you will do is wake up in the next morning either on your sofa bed or near the toilet)..I woke up on my sofa bed...heng ha!

OMG!! This should not be happening to mi...in the younger days, these amount of alcohol won't even get mi to 50% drunk...My alcohol tolerance is on the declining side and this is simply putting mi in an disadvantage for my coming wedding....

...but who cares...drink first, "ta" first, then think later....

Good time, good chat, good laugh and good fun.

Meeting up with Olivia and coy

Just met up with Olivia, her husband Clement and her colleague Andrea..I must say it had been nice catching up with her despite her heavy schedule....

She is back in Singapore for a week to sort out her wedding band, wedding gown, pre wedding shoot, her dress, etc....man, she is one busy lady,,..

I first met Olivia during my first three months stint with National Junior College. Afterwhich, I proceeded on to Jurong junior college. Though we only knew each other for 3 months, we kind of get along quite well with the chat...Lost touch in between for the next 8 years...next thing you knew it, we met again in Perth, compliments of her friend, Keng Fei passing mi her contact.

We finally met at a coffee cafe in Perth and there was simply so much things to catch up with her....like her uni days, when she started work, how she got to know Clement and her overseas works...

Time flies, and when you knew it, she is getting married next month. My heartiest congrats to her...I knew that she is in good hands of a mature man...

The aliying and afrey show...

Welcome to the aliying and afrey show!!

This show will come up once in a while as fictional characters of aliying and afrey(to be read as a - frey). Do note that aliying and afrey are not physical representations of any actual people living in lah lah land(coined by my friend, the wondering wanderer)... Their content and thoughts are not reflections of any actual people living in lah lah land.

Better state the disclaimer, terms and conditions first! This show is inspired by the Mr Brown show and the objective of this show is to engage readers in their thinking hats and sharing of experiences as aliying and afrey develop and mature in the highly competitive yet compassionate world..

aliying is defined as a man(a "real" man)of late twenties, slightly above average singaporean height, humble, married with a wife, very very ali@times, good drinking brudder, anime junkie and the nickname "cannonball" on the manjong table..

afrey is of the same age as aliying, best brudder, always there to give you a crying shoulder when the occasion arises, V good drinking brudder, triathlon freak, member of the "bo si kang" (no more time)club and nickname"self make 5 token king" on the manjong table.

The setup goes like this
When : two days ago
where : Bukit Timah Kopitiam
what we talking abt : emotional side of the office politics

aliying : hey brudder!!
afrey: hey brudder!! whazzup!!

aliying : No lah, just want to tell you that I felt very relieved after the series of twists that came along during my work...It had been tough and mentally draining for me...Don't know ha, how come other people clear so easy, mi like maciam very difficult leh...people say everybody got their ups and downs in work, but mine seems more downs then ups!!(some like compraining, rite??) Even got a friend looked at mi and seemed to infer"Eer, you cannot pass ha? I thought easy what"

afrey: Aiyah, I thought wat happen?!!! At the end of the day, you had reached your goals. Learn from the experience and move like....comprain comprain comprain/....okong you - treat mi milo dinosaur.......Abang!!! Milo dino satu, kopi satu susu sikit!

aliying : roger tat!! So how is your chat with your bosses abt your career track?

afrey: DOn't know lah!! Talk no action, LPPL. Just do wat I am supposed to do tomo...one day at a time lah, need not tink so far first...Middle management is really not easy to handle, got to do the work of two ranks up and moniter the work of two ranks down...multi multi task..Sian...

aliying : A sad reality of life, but that is how the world spins, and how life moves on...There is so much more that we can do for the company, but experience, seniority, rank and other hidden factors hinder the efficiency..Like wat you say, just do your best in your job scope...So must I..

afrey: I agree with u, brudder! A lot of us sometimes got too overwhelmed by work that it affected our personal life big time! THis further leaps on to the straining of the relationship between your gf and wife, family members and friends. Wat to do something happi, but cannot be happi...very miserable...

To solve this, what I will do is to go for the adrenline rush.. swim like you never b4 in the south china sea, cycle till your ass crack and go for a half marathon. Guys can go for a shopping spree like women to feel shiok...just got myself a Trek equinox bike!!! Wicked!!! Shiok!! I guess by doing so, you feel more alive, more purposeful and deter yourself from being a workaholic machine..

aliying: Good suggestion! Think one of my goals is set...Project Big mountain b4 38...here I come! Come come, my brudder...let's "ta" the milo dino and kopi susu sikit..

afrey: you siao ah!!

Claypot and Laksa at my home

Apologies for not doing the regular posting...The last two weeks had been intense with flying...

Finally after some attempts, Min and I managed to meet up with Lip Chee and maggie. We cooked dinner together and it was so nice to be able to have laksa and claypot rice, some good drinks and chat the night through....Not forgetting our regular dosage of manjong till 2am in the morning... With a tired soul, managed to sleep for 2.5hours b4 I made my way to east coast with Jeffrey and mingyun at 0530am in the wee morning.

Just to show my support for Jeffrey who was abt to do the NUS triathlon. It was not mi doing that, but I was happy enough to give my strong support to Jeffrey and to pamper myself by going for a10km run.

It had been a cool and breezy run, I must say...

The photos are uploaded...enjoy!

A twist to my test yesterday..

Did not complete the test yesterday...hence should be reapplying tomo to give it a try again. At that point in time, I was thinking- was god putting up an additional trial for mi? I was so close to the completion of the objective, but I was halted to goodwill. I felt that I had a decent performance for the test. But I had to do it again. :(

Patience is what I must seek now, I must not rush things in my hands or the amount of hard work accumulated over the past eight months in the fleet will go down to waste. Slow down and slow down!

An entry 3 days ago...

I am currently outside the tcc - the coffee connoisseur. Waiting for my wife to knock off work so that I can have dinner with her. Man, it feels good to have an off day in a weekday. This is not to be mistaken that I am making a laughing stock of ththe whole Singapor eoffice men and ladies. Better don't offend them or they are going to kill mi over it.

It had been two and a half years since I worked last as an engineer. Though I have the perks of the occasional week day off, I do miss the weekends as that is the time where most of my family and friends are free. I still remembered working on the first day of CNY...Not the best of the feeling.

My career obliges mi to treat both day and night, weekday and weekend as the same....No complains abt it, just glad that I had the moral support from Min. Frankly speaking, it had become more difficult to find quality time with her as our schedule crashes. Still working on it, and will continue to work it as long as flying stays as my careers....

Time indeed flies. Now we are in the second half of the year. Work got piled up, but at the same time, there are much more things to look forward too...here are the following

1. Weddings
More and more red packets are going out of our sleeves and pockets(as of now, I have Julian, jason, bret, chin chew, jamson, yiwei, yang and esmond down the pipeline for the wedding).

2. First month celebrations
Leia, Quon's younger brother and Jerry's son. More red packets, more presents, more diapers.

3. Birthdays
Min, baby nicole and carisse, binghui, kok heng, Huijing, Xinyi, chin chew coming up...more drinking, more makan

4. My wedding
This is it, ladies and gentlemen. My wedding with Min(of course it is Min, can it be someone else???) With the completion of my place called home, the rest of my energies are now concentrated on the wedding. No one is born a wedding planner. WHat wedding flavours to choose? What song to play for the first walk in? What alcohol to consume to convince my brothers and brudders that it is all worth it to down all the alcohol for mi on my wedding day? Which wedding card to choose? Which photo to pick as the bedside portrait?
It is okie, one thing at a time. Slow down slow down.

5. Promotion
Keepin my small fingers crossed. Now is a critical period for my pilot promotion. Shan't reveal much due company implication and procedures. Always err on the safer side....

6. Meet up with my guys and gals.
House is almost ready...so the house warming should be coming up soon. Still sourcing around for a living room clock and to hang up all my decorations, posters, puzzles and wonderful memories..

7. Prepare for my honey moon...Too cold in the North. Still sourcing around for a place. Dubai too hot, Moscow too cold, US too far, batam too close...

8. DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex)
I guess after the wedding photoshoot, felt inspired to shoot some good photos again. Time is not right, but I do have like the Sony A100. Looked impressive on the stat and the motto says"no camera is as stable as A100"

The post debrief of the class outing

Thanks to all for makin the effort to come for the class outing.. As far as I am concerned, it had been a successful class outing...

Now at jas place watching people eat durians. Very much that I would like to eat durians, but I can't. Knowing that mixing alcohol and durians are a big no no!

It always feel good to be able to meet up with people, cos it is always memorable to bring out the good old days, see how everyone is doing, and what is the big evil plans of our fellow friends..

A good gathering indeed...the next two gathering - Cherlene birthday on 08/08 and yet another manjong session...this time I must aim to at least break even!

I am not the only one feeling the strain

Hummm...you see, I am back online again. Felt very good to be able to stay in Singapore for >1 day. Enough time for you to reconsolidate, enough time for you to reclimatise back, enough time to spend some time with my loved ones, enough time to catch up on my forever-got-something-to-do list

Read some of the blogs recently and had a generalised idea that everyone(the netizens) seems to be slightly strained on the lower side. Mr Miyagi and Brown decided not to write for Today. Raynerlim had seen blog vacation(YOU actually can name the day you want to take time off from your blog..isn't that great) and people like myself just writing general updates..not the very inspiring. Or People writing things like ""ooh, there is just nothing today that is worth writing, or anything happening that deem mi as happening" Or someone else may write 'have a nice day!"

Looking back at the birth of my blog, i still remembered vividly that the primary objective is to update my family and friends of my news - where am I, what am I doing, what are my next plans, etc..... I am proud to say that the objective still remains the same. :)

Coming back, i was packing up my stuff bit by bit to shift to the new house...then I realise that I have so much things undiscovered! (Of course at the same time, there is alot of junk too...Aliying is too ali to throw it away, that is why)

Here are the things that I found during my discovery sweep

1. Letters from Min(details will not be revealed due personal reasons. Once again, you can try to trick mi by downing mi with alcohol - but beware, Aliying is well trained after the continuous stint with SIA captains!), my pri school friends(yes!), sec friends, JC, overseas, POSTCARDS, christmas greetings, CNY cards, etc. I had seen beyond the letters in the form of encouragement, blessings, greetings, well wishes, advise, updates, whereabouts, renewal of friendship!

2. I also found my fishing rod and reel(the last time I used it was first year Uni?? must jio jeffrey to go fishing with mi)

3. CDs(power station, Yuke Lee Lin, Emi Fujita,) - time to rip all these originals out and put it inside my Ipod...

4. Badges (NJC first 3 month badge, JJC badge, NPCC SANA course, marksman, Singapore flying college badge, Learjet 45 badge)

5. Certificates(Singapore is a paper society.better don't lose it)

6. Bags(My 70litre trekking backpack monster, my daypacks, etc)

7. My trusty lonely planet of Nepal, compliments from Min...

8. etc...

However, if you still do not understand what I am typing, a pic of myself sums up this entry...no need to read so hard lah!

Look out, look in, slow down!

A place where I called home of the Aliying!

This entry is way way overdue when the house was first completed in mid June. I must say that it feels quite good to own a home.. (the financial pinch is definitely there, though..but be rest assured that it is all worth it!)

"I want this sofa, I want this tat way, I want this to turn 45 degree....) YOu name it, the contractor does it for you.... No lah, over the period of six months, Min and I had developed a good friendship with Daniel, our contractor. ...Drink beer with him, bargain positively with him, suaning each other to the max....etc...

I am looking beyond the transaction of getting the house done. I had befriended a nice guy called Daniel, his wife Ivy and son Quon...

Mac thoughts

The world cup is taking the tolls on my weakening and frailing body..England vs Portugal, Argentina vs Germany, Brazil vs France(I totally totally slept through that match!)

It had been a very good weekend for myself. Details are :

Fri : Flew to Hong Kong, popped by the bar below the hotel to catch the last 20 mins of the Germany vs Argentina match. After which, managed to meet up with Ting Teng for supper...

Sat: Came back to Singapore, straight to Gemma's first month birthday...A total printout of Ah Gong on a baby..Sweetness is in the air! Superman(I would not say it is a must watch, but you know, Superman of the DC comics, how not to miss), more soccer after that...slept at Jaslin and Dave's place

Sun: Cleaning house time, met up with Lip Chee and Maggie..Got myself a new hp after my motorola V3 died on mi...*sign* ANd yes, I had returned back to Nokia after a stint with motorola...

Time does fly, not only planes does that..In a blink of an eye, half of the year had gone by. I do not even have time to do some self consolidation. What had I achieved? What could I had done more? what is more next short term and long term goals? Am I giving myself too much self induced stress? I guess to get the answers to the above mentioned questions, I need to sit back, relax with my kopi-0 (less susu) and think abt it...

Kudos to Efung!!

Had a good 2hrs breakfast with Efung. Just a month since we last met, so much things had happened for the both of us!!! Truely amazing! Kudos to Efung for making an effort to get my a** out of the bed before the sun rays shined in to burn my a**. Indeed a good breakfast, lots and lots of catching up, setting individual goals and reinforcing our targets. It is truely comforting to have a listening ear and have a pat of the back by him, saying"I give you my support, onz!!" This is not to be mistaken by any brokeback action. I am a married man with Min, and Efung is engaged to Huiyi.

Not forgetting our 2 X half boiled eggs, coffee and kaya butter bed.

Individual Physical Proficiency Test

b4 the IPPT, as the temple of the man aged, IPPT had been harder and harder for mi. The pull up bar seems further away from my chin, the turn around turn for the shuttle run seems longer and longer to turn around. The Standing Board Jump(SBJ) gravity pull is stronger and stronger, hence inhibiting mi to leap to my faith. The sit up , eers... surprising still not so bad.... :)

All in all, this IPPT had been a wake up call for mi. Not saying that I had failed, but I had just scrapped through my minimum requirement for CAT Y. I had achieved what I want, but felt that I could had done better should I done adequate preparation.

The 2.4km is really the final countdown. Even myself, a not so bad runner(think so) got the mild shivers. Wonder if the rest of the NSmen felt the same way too...Trust mi, I really nearly truly blew up my lungs just to finish the run. I started abit fast to break away from the crowd. My objective is simple - pick someone who has a "<10min"look on his face, stick it with him really hard and my <10min should be okie! Breathed really hard through my nose, at times giving in to the temptation of breathing through the "so easy" mouth. NOo!! I must continue to endure the suffering of breathing through the nose, at least till the half way mark, aka 1.2km. Reached the half way mark, only to realise that there is still half way more to go, versus < one third energy to go....The odds are definitely going against mi...Ran and puff and ran and ...saw the finish line....My SGD400, I must work hard on it!!!! With every lump of energy left, I opened up my pace to catch up....yeah! crossed the finishing line....Never felt so wasted, man!

All in all, I do enjoy the mild shivers b4 the chin up, the sprints in the shuttle run...not forgetting my dreadful SBJ. This IPPT had promptly reminded mi - you should not do last min preparation once every year! It is difficult to do the IPPT routine every day, but it is not impossible to do it on a not so regular basis...

comments and a run

Dear all, Wondering wanderer and shellfish, saw your comments...replied them under the respective entries...think this is a better method as compared to reply to your non-reply@blogger.com...

just came back from a run and did some routines for the upcoming IPPT next tue... Should had started training donkey years ago instead of "last min carry buddha leg" double edged sword cos at least the SGD400 is there to motivate mi to train up a bit...

To strike gold and get 400bucks, I need 38 Sit up, 230cm Standing Board Jump, 10 chin up, 10.4 sec for shuttle run and <10min for my 2.4km.

Not sure if I can strike gold. SBJ might be a prob for mi, and I would need to dig my lungs deep for the <10min for the 2.4km run.

If I fail to do so, there is still the silver there for mi. No!!! I must aim for gold to raise funds for my upcoming wedding and projects...

Holland Argentina 0-0

My first 0300hrs match. With Jeffrey and Mingyun on their way to Segar Kopitiam for yet another round of soccer action, Min and I struggled to open our eyes when the alarm clock rang at 0230hrs. Before I gained sub conscious, I was alreadi settling down for the Holland Argentina match.

I must say that the match was not too bad, even though both teams rested some of their key players..better than the England - Paraguay...that one was boring to the max...can cry one by watching that.

Here is a pic of (L to R): Min, Mingyun and Jeffrey

World Cup..

Germany match was quite good actually...watched it with my brudders at AMK S11 kopitiam...and you should know my magical formula : Kopitiam + World Cup + a group of brudders = Kopitiam beer..

10 of us, 23 bottles of Calsberg beer....I must say that at the end of the 23rd bottle, I am a bit on the high side...luckily I never drive...heng yah!

Kudos to Meng, Ruishan, Yang, Melvin, Sabrina, Sean, Taomin, Bret, Howard and Grace.. It had been my absolute pleasure to drink with them...Chill out, I am!

Today was the third and final photo shoot - the indoor photo shoot...surprising tiring but at the same time, Min and I had a really good time taking photos together...Heard that wedding photos are always taken, framed into a book and slot it under the cabinet...However, I am sure that if we put on our thinking caps, there are others way to present this memorable piece of information....

Eg would be
1. to put it on TOP of the cabinet, making itself visible..
2. Throw away the box that comes with it so that you would not have the excuse that it will not collect dust.
3. Do a montage on it(at the expense of spending more money....:()
4. Put small photo frames around the house to revive the good times during the photo shoot.

Istanbul revisited!

The trip to Istanbul had been a very interesting experience for mi. Not the usual shopping, but we are abt to experience a "culture" that had given birth many many years ago...Not a man of good words, so I will just let my photos explain.

On top of that, another main reason why this trip is interesting is because I am able to meet up my good friends, Jeffrey and Mingyun overseas. It may be a bit difficult to meet up, but with just a little bit of effort to meet up together in a foreign land, the results are truly fulfilling and enjoyable!

Here comes the journey...follow through, ladies and gentlemen.

The blue mosque is a HUGE place! Definitely a icon of Istanbul. Located at Sultanahmel, you would not be able to miss it. Strict religious rules applies - no shoes, no revealing of the flesh and no tripod(do not ask mi why, they seems to be very particular abt Jeffrey's tripod). The good thing that it is free for entry..shiok!

We made our way to another Mosque - Mosque Sophia. This time round, we had to pay 10 Lira(approx 1 to 1 with the Singapore dollar). The interiors and the presentation justified the entrance fee as we are presented with ancient mosaic and canvas paintings of the mosque. This is very very good!

Smoke waterpipe - all you can for 6 LIRA...apple tea favour, cappucino favour and strawberry favour to choose for. All these beat those that we had in Singapore Arab street flat down to the max!!! Check out also the master below! Imagine getting paid to smoke for the last 6 years or so...

Makan in Istanbul is spolit for choice - Kebab, Doner, rice, etc. 3 of us actually had 2 lunchs in 1 hour. We had vegetable stew, chicken soup and dishes, doner and yorgurt. shiok!

The cat lazing in the evening sun caught my attention when I was walking along the streets. Cat or mosque? U choose!

Last but not least, the Silican Cristern consists of an undergroung maze with 2 medusa heads at the end of the maze....up to you to imagine, my friends!

All in all, the istanbul experience had been very nice and culturally interesting. Think this is further enhanced by the ever joking Jeffrey and the "xiao-jai-bu"(aka chinese translation of crazy women), Mingyun.

Cheers!
