Q and A abt running

Q: I'm psyched to start running - only to quit a few weeks later. How can I maintain my enthusiasm, mentally and physically?

A: Runners get discouraged because they expect too much of themselves when they first start. To result orientated. Research shows that people who start with gentle, every other day running and have a good experience are apt to continue to their training for the next six months. Moral of the story - start slow. It is okie to start slow.

Be conservative: run every other day and at a pace that you find it ridiculously slow. Avoid huffing and puffing even at the end of the run(that sounds like mi, relax lah!)

Walk early and often - four min run, 1 min walk. A min of recovery has an exponential reward.

Keep a log - It is reinforcing to see the miles add up.

Imagine the future - Work towards realistic goals, edge up bit by bit.
